We're still here!

We're still here!

It has been a quieter start to the year than I had hoped for at Witchmark Observatory.

Like many things that rely on clear skies, our observing evenings have been at the mercy of the weather. Cloud, rain, wind, and the usual unpredictability of the British climate have made it difficult to host the kind of evenings I want people to experience — where the sky is clear, the views are worth the wait, and everyone gets the best possible night under the stars. It's not exactly better now. :D

As we move through the summer months, the long days and late sunsets also make public observing evenings much harder to run. For that reason, Witchmark Observatory does not usually host evening events during the height of summer.

But we are still here.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been taking the time to regroup, refresh plans, and look ahead to when darker evenings return. The aim is to begin hosting again around mid-Autumn, once the skies are darker earlier and conditions are more suitable for proper observing sessions.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who originally bought tickets and still have some, showed interest, or supported the observatory. Your patience and understanding have been very much appreciated.

When events start up again, those who previously had tickets and still have them will be given first dibs on the new dates before they are opened up more widely.

Thank you again for sticking with Witchmark Observatory. I’m really looking forward to welcoming people back under the night sky later this year.
