From the new school year in September, The Starsmith along with Witchmark Observatory will be offering astronomy talks and interactive STEM sessions for primary schools, especially Years 5 and 6.
These sessions are designed to be engaging, memorable, and accessible — helping pupils explore the wonders of the night sky while supporting curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and maths.
Topics can include:
- What we can see in the night sky
- The Moon and its Phases
- Planets in our Solar System
- Stars, constellations, and deep space
- Light, shadows, scale, and distance
- Gravity
- How telescopes help us understand the universe
The sessions include interactive experiments and demonstrations to help children see that science is not just something in a textbook — it is something they can question, test, explore, and enjoy.
I have previously delivered astronomy talks at Brockholes Nature Reserve as “The Starsmith”, and I’m now opening bookings for schools from September.
